Blue Beetle

At Day For Nite, Blue Beetle was my first postvis project, and second movie project to come out since working at the company. On the film, I learned how to work primarily in After Effects with animation in Maya using the plates to add 3D animations and VFX in both CG and 2D cards to line up with the film. I was responsible for animating anything from camera tracks to replacement CG backgrounds, explosions, gunfire, Blue Beetle’s famous appendages and wings, melee weapons, mechs and suits in both static and combat shots, and vehicles like the Kord chopper and Beetle ship.

Postvis is a visualization process that precedes the final VFX. Much like previs for the final camera direction, postvis is previs for VFX. The process helps direct what the final film will look like.

I didn’t receive a movie credit this time, however, I still have proof.
